DC Motor Drives: Simple Auto Transformer Rectifier Control Panel

In this system, Variable D.C. Voltage is obtained by rectifying continuously Variable A.C. output voltage of an Auto-Transformer.
The A.C. voltage can be changed by manual rotation of Auto-Transformer or by Push Button operated pilot motor method on the Auto-Transformer.
In this open loop control system, Variable D.C. voltage supplied to the D.C. motor to change the speed. 
This simple yet reliable system is extensively used in the Industry.

Close Loop Auto Transformer Rectifier Control Panel

This system combines the simplicoty of Auto-Transformer Rectifier D.C. Drive and closed loop control used in Thyristor Drive.

A Variable D.C Voltage is obtained by rectifying Variable A.C. output voltage of an Auto-Transformer.

This system has selectable Open Loop Control and Closed Loop Control. In open Loop control, the output D.C. voltage can be varied by manuel rotation of Auto-Transformer or by increase/decrease push button operated Pilot Motor, mounted on the Auto-Transformer.

In Closed Loop Control, a voltage signal proportional to speed is contantly compared with a set speed reference signal, in an Electronic Module. Any error Voltage after amplification, rotates the Auto-Transformer automatically, to bring about the necessary correction in the D.C. Voltage.

This features make the Drive almost un-interrupted and highly reliable.

  • Dynamic Brake to bring the motor to an instant shockless stop.

  • Remote control unit to Control the speed of motor from a remote location.

  • Reversal of direction of rotation.

Protection

  • Fast acting HRC fuses for the Diodes against short circuit.

  • Surge suppressor network for Diodes against line surges.

  • Thermal overload relay for armature.

  • Current sensing field failure relay.

  • Thermal overload relay for blower motor.

  • With all these protection we also give Fault Indicators to pin point the fault, to minimise down time during the repairs.
